Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus project Padmavati has been in the headlines since the film was announced. It took a drastic turn when the filmmaker was assaulted by Rajput Karni Sena and the film set was vandalized in Jaipur. Then, costumes and posters for the film were burnt in Kolhapur. However, this time, more and more problems seem to emerge for Padmavati and the makers.

In an unfortunate incident in Surat, Gujarat, artist Karan K’s spectacular rangoli of inspired by Deepika Padukone’s look from Padmavati was destroyed by a group of 100 people shouting ‘Jai Shree Ram’. Ahead of Diwali, the artist created a massive rangoli featuring Deepika. However, his hours of hard work, was destroyed.

Reacting to the incident, Deepika Padukone vented out her anger for the very first time and spoke against the goons who are time and again are taking action against anything related to the film. In a series of tweets, Deepika spoke against the goons and asked I&B Minister Smriti Irani to take some action. She wrote, “Absolutely heartbreaking to see the recent attack on artist Karan and his artwork! Disgusting and appalling to say the least! Who are these people? Who is responsible for their actions? For how long are we going to let this go on? allow them to take law into their own hands & attack our freedom & right to individual expression time & again!? this has to stop NOW & action must be taken!@smritiirani.”
