He has given us internationally acclaimed films like Elizabeth and Elizabeth – The Golden Age. While closer to home, he has enthralled the audience with films like Masoom, Mr. India, Bandit Queen. And now, once again, Kapur takes India to the centre stage after getting elected on the feature film jury of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. The festival which spans the duration from May 12 to 23 will also have other internationally reckoned names along side Shekhar like Kate Beckinsale, Italian actress Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Alberto Barbera, Frence author/ screenwriter and director Emmanuel Carrere, Benicio Del Toro, and Spanish director Victor Erice, while Tim Burton will preside over the jury for feature films at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival. With this, Shekhar will be the next in line following veteran actress and Censor Board Chief Sharmila Tagore who was on the jury last year and Aishwarya Rai who was part of the prestigious Cannes jury in 2003.
