USA: Oye! Times readers Get FREE $30 to spend on Amazon, Walmart…It looks like Mahesh Manjrekar cannot stay away from villainy roles. Or maybe villainy roles can't stay away from him. Having sworn off evil guys' roles, he is back at it full-throttle. This time he has stepped into Amjad Khan's role of evil Zamindar Sher Singh Bandookwala in the remake of Himmatwala.
The role has an interesting history. Amjad Khan badly needed to escape the iconic status accorded to his Gabbar Singh act in Sholay. Himmatwala gave him that opportunity.
Now Mahesh Manjrekar has taken up the challenge of doing Amjad's part which was villainous but also ridiculous for not realizing self-important he seems.
Says Manjrekar, "I am not following Amjad Khan from the original. I am going by whatever my director Sajid Khan tells me."
