After two rounds at Sedgefield in Greensboro, NC, Jimmy Walker is now leading the 2012 Wyndham Championship, but U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson is just a stroke behind.

Defending champion Webb Simpson (63) was one stroke back. First-round leader Carl Pettersson (68), Tim Clark (67), Sergio Garcia (63) and rookie Harris English (64) were at 10 under. Tim Herron matched the tournament record with a 61, but was still nine strokes back.

Walker, who boasts a 12-under-par 128 through two days, has just three top-10 finishes in 23 PGA Tour events this year, with all of them coming in January and February. The 34-year-old has yet to win a PGA Tour event since his debut on tour in 2005, but he's coming off his best season in 2011, earning four top-10 finishes in the previous year.

Simpson, of course, has been soaring up the world golf rankings since his emergence last year. After being ranked No. 213 in the world at the end of 2010, he is now ranked No. 5 in the world following his victory at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

Simpson did surprisingly miss the cut at the PGA Championship. It showed that he was out of form as he hadn't played since the U.S. Open after the birth of his second child, and surely needed some time to get back into the swing of things. Now he appears to be back in the form that launched him to the U.S. Open championship now, and also here in Wyndham championship 2012. Simpson is driving the ball well (311.5 yards on average at the Wyndham), he's putting well and his driving accuracy (71.4 percent) and greens in regulation percentage (77.7 percent) is way up.
