Care International, humanitarian organization working in Twic East County will withdraw its health care services in the county but will remain providing services on the livelihood and food security sector.

BOR, March 20, 2015 [Gurtong] – Twic East Commissioner Dau Akoi in an interview with Gurtng said the move will affect the county.

“The assistance country director of CARE International came to me and said as CARE, we want to pullout from the health Sector. They have been doing the primary health care in Twic East and it was a big component of the Project of CARE for almost more than 10-years in Twic Eas.”

The commissioner added that the quality of services in the health facilities will also be weakened.

“The qualified nurses are being paid by the CARE. But now if they are pulling out from that field or that project that means the nurses who are qualified are going to lose their  jobs and the government is not able to provide the money  for the qualified nurses,” Akoi said.

CARE international will pull out their service in the month of June this year. Twic East County has 16 Primary health Care Units.

CARE International is the only organization running primary Health care in Twic East apart from the children food nutrition being provided by other humanitarian agencies.

CARE International has been working in the region since 1993 providing access to clean water and sanitation, mitigating the efforts of droughts and helping with peace building efforts.
