The two members of parliament representing Rumbek North County, Marik Nanga Marik and Isaac Makur Buoc Apac representing Rumbek East County respectively were arrested following directives from the Caretaker Governor Maj-Gen Matur Chut Dhuol.
“I have pushed all doors for my husband to be released but in vain” said the wife of MP Marik Nanga Marik who was arrested on October 4, 2015 without charges.
The state parliament’s Speaker and members of the council of state have described the prolonged detention of the MPs as unconstitutional and are calling for their immediate release.
“I really don’t understand what the hidden agenda between the President and the state administration is on this arrest?” said Nyanwan who has continuously pleaded with the national government and the state government to release her husband or be taken to court and be charged.
Lakes State Caretaker Governor, Maj-Gen Matur Chut Dhuol has maintained his silence over the matter.
Marik Nanga Marik and Isaac Makur Buoc respectively are being detained in Yirol East County and have no access to their families.
