The Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this Wednesday was discharged from Singapore General hospital in Singapore following a successful surgery for prostate cancer according to a post on his Facebook account. The Prime Minister of Sinagpore Lee was diagnosed with prostate cancer in January and underwent surgery on Monday at the Singapore General Hospital.

Professor Christopher Cheng, who performed the successful surgery on Lee, said: ‘Prime Minister’s pathology report is good. The disease is small but potentially significant. We are very glad we are able to detect and remove it in time. He should make a full recovery.’

In a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Lee thanked the ‘competent, dedicated and compassionate team’ of radiologists, pathologists, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and others who treated him. It was the second time that Lee had suffered cancer. In 1992, Lee was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent a three-month period of chemotherapy. When his treatment began, he relinquished his position as the Minister for Trade and Industry, though he continued to be a Deputy Prime Minister. His chemotherapy was successful, and his cancer has since gone into remission.
