Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit (EDGE) officers have charged a 30-year-old man in connection with the seizure of approximately $430,000 dollars worth of marihuana.

Patrick Johnson of Spruce Grove was arrested yesterday afternoon following a vehicle stop in the area of 170 Street and 98 Avenue by EPS Tactical Unit officers. Approximately 38.5 lbs. of marihuana was located in the box of the pick-up truck.

A subsequent search warrant was then obtained for a warehouse in west Edmonton where an additional 106 lbs. of packaged marihuana was discovered.

Also seized under the Victim’s Restitution and Compensation Payment Act was a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 truck.

“This arrest was the culmination of solid investigative work and was significant due to the fact nearly 150 lbs. of marijuana was taken off city streets,” said EDGE Staff Sergeant Darren Derko.

Johnson has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
