Theresa Peebles charged with human trafficking in Winnipeg

 On September 20th, 2010 members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to the area of the 300 block of Aikens Street regarding a disturbance incident involving two adult females.

The investigation commenced, at which time officers met with a 21 year old female victim.

The investigation has revealed that a 38 year old female befriended the victim in early September 2010. Over a short period of time, the 38 year old female allegedly took and maintained control of a variety of the victim’s property and forced her to work under her supervision as a sex trade worker.

The victim was forced to work in this capacity to earn money for food and shelter however the 38 year old female kept all monies earned.

It is also alleged that the 38 year old female assaulted the victim as a result of a dispute and kept her from fleeing after two failed attempts.

On September 22, 2010 members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested Theresa PEEBLES, 38 years and charged her with the following offences:

• Trafficking in Persons x 3
• Forcible Confinement
• Assault

She has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
