Environment Canada has issued a special weather and snowfall warnings for large areas of central Canada, as both sides of the country are anticipated to receive massive rainfall. The snowfall stating last night has resulted in slippery commutes and slowed public transit in Toronto, Hamilton and the Greater Golden Horseshoe.

Furthermore, the special winter weather statement listed areas including Georgian Bay and Algonquin. It was mentioned that “general snowfall totals are expected to approach 10 cm over most of the area. However, higher totals of 10 to 15 cm will be likely over the Niagara Peninsula. In addition, gusty northerly winds accompanying the system could significantly reduce visibilities at times in falling and blowing snow.” Environment Canada alleged that “motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions.”

According to the federal weather agency, huge areas of Atlantic Canada are under rain and wind warnings due to the same large storm system. Whereas, British Columbia is also anticipated to face more rain and wind after wacky weather yesterday threatened to breach flood wand sea walls. Vancouver is expected to have up to 69 centimetres of rain today. Even though parts of northern Alberta are also under a snowfall warning, Saskatchewan is expected to be sunny and unseasonably warm today, with temperatures possibly rising to 6C. Whereas, snow started early on Thursday morning in Toronto causing several school buses closure in the Greater Toronto Area.
