Hamilton man arrested for defrauding his church

The Hamilton Police Major Fraud Unit arrested a 32-year-old Hamilton man for allegedly misappropriated funds from his church and his former employer.

The accused had been a manager of a major bank in Hamilton. It is alleged that he was obtaining fraudulent loans using real customer names but fabricating other personal information.

The accused was the Treasurer for his Hamilton church. His position at the bank and with the church afforded him the opportunity to misappropriate the funds.

He turned himself over to Hamilton police wishing to confess to misappropriating funds.

The misappropriation took place between 2008 and November 2010. The total amount of the misappropriation was $113,774. Hamilton Police Major Fraud Section made the following arrest:

Charged: Mark RIEMER, 32, Hamilton

Charges: Theft by Conversion Over $5000
Obtain Credit by Fraud X2
Uttering Forged Documents x2
