Labour leader, Ed MilibandThe Mail on Sunday “unreservedly” apologises to Labour leader Ed Miliband after he complains about their reporter intruding into a private memorial service for his late uncle.

Earlier on Saturday, Mail on Sunday’s sister newspaper ‘the Daily Mail’ had published an article in which it branded Mr. Miliband’s dead father Ralph Miliband, a Marxist theorist, “The Man Who Hated Britain”.

Miliband has already put up a complaint to the Daily Mail over its critical article about his father, which came after the Labour leader unveiled an increasingly left-leaning stance at his party conference last month.

Editor Geordie Greig’s excuse came after Mr. Miliband sent a written complaint to the paper’s owner asking him to “reflect on the culture” of their newspaper by responding to the objection.

Mr. Greig has admitted that the decision to send a reporter to the private memorial service of Ed Miliband’s uncle had been a “terrible lapse of judgement” and was made without his consent on the matter. Two journalists on the paper had been suspended after criticism of the press culture.

Mr. Greig has assured to conduct full investigation of the matter after the Labour leader wrote a letter to the paper describing the intrusion as “crossing a line of common decency”.

Mr Greig has said in a statement: “I unreservedly apologise for a reporter intruding into a private memorial service for a relative of Ed Miliband.

“I would further like to apologise to members of the family and friends attending the service for this deplorable intrusion. I have already spoken personally to Ed Miliband and expressed my regret that such a terrible lapse of judgment should have taken place.

“It is completely contrary to the values and editorial standards of the Mail on Sunday. I understand that Lord Rothermere is personally writing to Ed Miliband.”
