The Toronto Argonauts Football Club would like to congratulate RB Cory Boyd on earning CFL Offensive Player of the Week honours for his performance during CFL Week 6 in Edmonton. This is Boyd’s first CFL Player of the Week award.
Boyd was a one-man wrecking crew last Friday night at Commonwealth Stadium. On his 25th birthday, Boyd became the first Argonaut since Michael Jenkins in 2001 to score three touchdowns in a game. While Jenkins’ TDs were all on the ground, Boyd had two rushing majors as well as the first receiving touchdown of his career. He also ran for a career-high 164 yards on 25 carries while adding 4 catches for 46 yards. In all, he totalled 210 yards from scrimmage.
The Argos rookie now leads the CFL in rushing yards with 648 and leads his team with four touchdowns. He is also tops in the league with 718 yards from scrimmage and fifth in the CFL in combined yards.
Toronto fans can cheer on Boyd and his never-quit teammates live this Saturday, August 14 at Rogers Centre as the Argonauts take on East rival Montreal Alouettes at 7:30 p.m.
