As the U-19 Cricket World Cup 2012 is in its final rounds, New Zealand will finally face South Africa for the 3rd and 4th positions on Saturday at Townsville.
In the Semi-finals both the teams lost against their counter-rivals. The South Africa under-19s were eliminated from the running for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2012 when they suffered a four-wicket semifinal defeat to Australia on Tuesday. South Africa had been undefeated in the tournament thus far. They did not have a good day in all the disciplines of the game and that, coupled with a bit of bad luck, ensured they exited the tournament prematurely. Now, they will have a final play-off for the 3rd and 4th position to save the honour. The U-19 South African squad will include: CJ Bowes*, GL Cloete, MG Coetzee, TB de Bruyn, Q de Kock†, CA Dry, JN Frylinck, VP Moore, SSN Nqweni, S Pillay, DA Rhoda, DS Rosier, CP Savage, P Subrayen, LB Williams.
New Zealand get defeated by two-time former champions India by nine runs on last Wednesday in the second semi-final of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2012. Now India proceeds to set-up Sunday’s final with defending champs Australia.
Defending just 209 runs, India produced an outstanding bowling and fielding performance to restrict New Zealand to 200 for nine in 50 overs. Despite their wonderful performance, New Zealand lost the match. Against South Africa, the New Zealand U-19 squad will include: JF Carter, SB Davey, MSJ Davidson, JA Duffy, CD Fletcher†, BJ Horne, BL Hyde, C Neynens, EJ Nuttall, RR O’Donnell, MR Quinn, IS Sodhi, TF van Woerkom, WA Young*, L Yugaraja.
