On Day 3, New Zealand fought hard to undo India’s big 246-run lead on Saturday to move to 252 for 5, standing six runs ahead at stumps in the second Test – mainly due to Brendon McCullum’s ninth Test century and his most required 158-run unbroken partnership with BJ Watling.
The New Zealanders performed as required by them as they avoid giving away any other wicket to India in the final session on Sunday. On the other hand, the visitors must be considering the situation as 6 for 5 instead of 252 for 5 when they resume their quest for levelling the series on Monday.
