As home to one of Canada’s most deeply rooted German populations, Waterloo Region also hosts the second largest Bavarian celebration outside Germany. From October 8-16, the 42nd Annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest will mark a time of cultural celebration, family enjoyment and entertainment.
“Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is Canada’s Greatest Bavarian Festival,” said Susan Cudahy, general manager, Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation. “Aside from its traditional activities, Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest hosts events for every age group. Whether you are looking for music, sports, fashion, traditional German culture or a family friendly environment, there is something tailored to every age and interest.”
While most people view Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest as a time for beer, schnitzel and sauerkraut, there are many “Wunderbar” events waiting to be discovered. Waterloo Region invites you to slip on your lederhosen and check out the top things to do at Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest:
Festhallen are where the core of activities and festivities can be found. Bavarian decorated buildings, tents and five German Clubs offer award winning oompah bands, Bavarian dancers, and mouth watering cuisine. Each Festhalle is uniquely different, catering to the young and the "young at heart".
