David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People Comes to the West Coast
Geffen Playhouse – Gil Cates Theater (Los Angeles, CA)
Jane Kaczmarek and Jon Tenney star in Geffen Playhouse’s production of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People. Margie Walsh is a product of South Boston. She was born there and will likely die there, having never risen above the poverty and seediness. Laid off from her job at the dollar store and ready for change, the middle-aged single working mother decides to go in search of the one who got away: a guy she dated back in high school who’s now a successful physician in the suburbs. She finds him, but more importantly finds herself faced with the question: Is opportunity earned or granted? Frances McDormand won a Tony Award in 2010 for her portrayal of Margie in the show’s Broadway run.
