Join textile artist Bree Zorel for a workshop in the art of Sashiko, an ancient Japanese mending technique. Bring your worn out denim and practice the creative possibilities of this meditative patchwork technique. Learn about the historical and contemporary applications of Sashiko while mending your own clothing in a cozy group setting.

All other materials provided, including needle, thimble, thread and fabric scraps.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Bree Zorel is a visual artist, textile maker, and educator based in Toronto, Canada, and Melipilla, Chile. She holds an MFA from NSCAD University and has taught at various art colleges, galleries, and community organizations, both to children and people who used to be children but then got too old for that. She spends her time reading, knitting, drawing, and sewing, and most of her favourite activities involve some form of puttering and tinkering.
