Toronto-based women's rights NGO Aura Freedom is hosting a screening of the film SOLD, with special guests CNN Hero Anuradha Koirala and SOLD Composer/Musical Supervisor Sammy Chand. Following the film, there will be a special Q&A session with Anuradha, Sammy, and Aura Freedom's Founder, Marissa Kokkoros.

SOLD tells the story of a young Nepali girl named Lakshmi who is trafficked from her home in a rural village to a brothel in Kolkata, India. The film shines a much-needed light on the plight of human trafficking, a brutal reality faced by hundreds of thousands of children around the world every year.

Since 2013, Aura Freedom has worked tirelessly against gender-based violence, including anti-trafficking efforts in partnership with Anuradha and her organization Maiti Nepal. This has involved sex trafficking liberation, rehabilitation, and prevention in Nepal, something Anuradha has done for over 20 years.

Aura Freedom is also working hard against trafficking in our own city of Toronto, with its Human Trafficking Awareness program for young Canadians, a project that has already identified survivors of human trafficking and provided access to services.

All proceeds will be dedicated to Aura Freedom's anti-trafficking efforts in both Canada and Nepal.
