I never thought I would be diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer

affects 1 in 8 women. Breast cancer is glamorized as a disease that is prepackaged

and pretty in pink. This does not reflect the physical suffering of

woman and the psychological impact of the family. The Oracle, six life-size

photographic images of myself inspired by Christian triptych altar pieces

represents every woman’s story of sorrow and triumph to be shared as a

point of dialogue for challenges faced by women and to create positive

change.

Carol Mark is an art activist for women and children’s human rights. Carol

believes that art and women’s voices can change the world.

The Oracle exhibited at Buddies In Bad Times Theatre in conjunction with World Premiere HER2 play by Maja Ardal, Nightwood Theatre, January 13-February1, 2016. Directed by Kim

Blackwell including a stellar all-female cast, HER2 is a probing examination of the uneasy relationship between medical science and the human spirit.
