Meghna Gulzar debuted as a director in 2002 with the Tabu-Sushmita Sen starrer Filhaal. But the film failed to make an impact and the same happened with her next film Just Married in 2007 and the short story ‘Pooranmasi’ which was a part of Dus Kahaniyaan. She disappeared for a long time but then made a great comeback with the 2015 sleeper hit, Talvar, based on the 2008 Noida double murder case. And now she is expected to stun viewers once again with her upcoming thriller, Raazi. The film has got trade and industry excited as it’s produced by Karan Johar and features Alia Bhatt in a leading role.
The first schedule of the film commenced last month in Mumbai. That schedule has now got over and to announce about this update, Meghna Gulzar posted a lovely selfie. It features the director using her fingers to help her smile and it looks very cute. “When the first schedule is completed. #Raazi” is the caption of the picture. With one schedule already over and the film expected to be shoot at one go, it looks like the film will be ready much before time. Raazi is scheduled to release on May 11, 2018.
Raazi is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’, about a Kashmiri spy married to a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. It also stars Vicky Kaushal.
