CTV's Tom Brown, Ginnie Sethi, Harpreet Sethi, Major John Murray from the Salvation Army and Tanveer MakkarWell known GTA entrepreneur Harpreet Sethi along with wife Ginni and children Prince and Priya, gave the CTV Toy Mountain campaign to benefit the Salvation Army a big boost with a $10,000 donation that will go towards purchasing and distributing toys to disadvantaged children this holiday season.

The announcement was made December 12, 2011 at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital and was broadcast live on CTV Toronto evening news and CP24. When asked why he chose to make this donation, Sethi said:  “It’s the holiday season, it’s the spirit of giving — if this small amount can bring a smile to the faces of a thousand children, I am delighted to give it.”  Sethi, the owner of the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Mississauga and Black Diamond Entertainments, is well known in the GTA for both his entrepreneurial achievements and his generosity. In 2007 he made a $500,000 donation to Brampton’s William Osler Hospital for construction of the new Guru Nanak Emergency Centre and has also contributed to many other worthy causes such as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). Approximately 1000 toys will be purchased and distributed using the funds donated.

On hand for the cheque presentation were members of a children’s choir, war veterans, media and representatives from the Salvation Army.

This year’s Toy Mountain toy goal is the biggest yet, with 150,000 toys needed for disadvantaged children living the GTA. Members of the public are asked to donate a new, unwrapped toy to one of the official toy drop-off locations. A list of locations can be found at www.toronto.ctv.ca/toymountain/ The campaign runs until December 22, 2011.
