On Sunday, April 18, 2010, at approximately 2:21 p.m., officers attended the temple, for the purpose of keeping the peace during an ongoing internal dispute.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., a physical altercation took place between several parties, in which weapons were used. Four male victims, ranging in age from 33 to 46 years of age, were transported to hospital with various non life-threatening injuries. All of the victims were treated and released. The initial investigation led to three male suspects being arrested and charged with several assault and weapons related offences.
By Tuesday, April 21st, investigators had identified two more suspects in relation to the incident. Both of these wanted suspects turned themselves in to police and will be making a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Thursday, April 22, 2010.
Amarjit Singh MANN, age 58, of Brampton, is facing the following charges; Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, and two counts of Assault Cause Bodily Harm.
Surjit Singh ATWAL, age 54, of Brampton, is facing the following charges; Possession of a Weapon for a Purpose and Assault with a Weapon.
Investigators continue to actively investigate this incident and are encouraging witnesses to come forward.
