Phthalates, parabens, sulfates…GMOs? Is it us, or does beauty shopping seem to require a chemistry degree these days? We’re all about getting responsible with our beauty picks, but we don’t want to have to rely on crunchy-granola beauty products that are less effective than our regular product picks (or worse, smell like a health food store).
After this story got us all freaked out over phthalates (common chemicals added to cosmetics, household cleaners, and even sex toys) and their potential effect on our hormones, we decided to do some research and see what was actually out there for consumers interested in phthalate-free products. Lo and behold, we found that everyone from Tarte to L’Occitane to Olayis reformulating their products to be healthier and more natural.
In addition to these popular brands, we also found some standout, non-granola natural brands that are so good, you may not even miss your old stuff (we personally love how natural shampoos and body washes are less drying and irritating than their commercial counterparts). Pretty, safe, and effective? We’d say that these products are a win-win, whether you’re looking for the perfect all-natch lipstick or chemical-free cleansing face wipes.
Scroll through to see our favorite products, and if you’d like more info, check out this comprehensive list of phthalate-free beauty brands on the Breast Cancer Action site.
