A Dharma film is special. Moreover, director Shakun Bata is returning after Ek Main Aur Ek Tu which had some decent music. This time around, Karan Johar too joins the trend and instead of relying on a single composer and lyricist to do the job, he ropes in an entire team of composers Amaal Mallik, Badshah, Fazilpuria, Arko, Benny Dayal, Nucleya and Tanishk Bagchi along with lyricists Badshah, Kumaar, Manoj Muntashir, Dr. Devendra Kafir and Abhiruchi Chand.

MUSIC

It is a fantastic start to the album the moment 'Kar Gayi Chull' kick-starts. With the hot-n-happening 'jodi' of Badshah and Neha Kakkar coming together for this house party outing, there is good rhythm build-up to this three minute track that doesn't have a single dull moment. The lyrics are peppy and the singing as per the mood and situation as well, hence making 'Kar Gayi Chull' a definite winner in the making.

There is a soft-n-serene start to 'Bolna', a romantic number, which follows next and that's how the mood stays right through this well tuned number. This one has a Dharma quality to it and one can pretty much expect a situation in the film that would be rightly complimented by this song. Arijit Singh is just the right voice for this song and what makes it further interesting is the coming in of Asees Kaur, who impresses yet again with her rendition after 'Mohabbat Yeh' (Ishqedarriyaan) and 'Na Jaane' (Kuch Kuch Locha Hai)

It is time for some celebratory mood to set in once brothers Armaan Malik and Amaal Malik come together for 'Buddhu Sa Mann'. With its base being just the same as 'Sooraj Dooba' (Roy) , this one manages to form an instant connect due to the rhythm that works all over again. Moreover, it is sung quite well too which assures that on screen it would manage to bring on the festivities just right. Third winner in a row.

After all the fun-n-frolic, there is a somber turn to the soundtrack with Arko bringing on 'Saathi Rey'. A song which has to be heard quite closely as the lyrics build on gradually towards some storytelling in the narrative, this one should sound good along with the film. Arko does well in the way he composes and sings this one while conveying the message clearly around holding on for a while as the circumstances change for the better.

Badshah concludes the soundtrack with 'Let's Nacho' which surprisingly sounds a lot like 'Nacho Saare G Phaad Ke' (Happy Ending) in the way the music unfolds around the hook portion. While Badshah sings this one well (with support at the beginning from Bebby Dayal), surprisingly the music gets a little too noisy at certain points, which dilutes the impact that the singer manages to create. Overall, a decent track that would need a lot by means of visualization.

OVERALL

The album is powered primarily by 'Kar Gayi Chull' with 'Bolna' promising chartbuster appeal too. That should ensure that the music of Kapoor & Sons would live on for a while at the least.
