Western Bahr el Ghazal State (WBGS) Deputy Governor and Minister for Local Government, Efisio Kon Uguak last Tuesday received the German delegation from the Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development office, headed by Mr. Johnnes Sperrfechter.

The German delegates’ aim of visit was to assess on the general security situation in Western Bahr el Ghazal State and South Sudan following the country’s independence from the north.

Speaking after the meeting, Sperrfecter pointed out that their visit will focus on the security, political situation and the ongoing Infrastructural development in WBGS.

Deputy Governor, Efisio Kon Uguak assured the delegates that the State security situation was stable and free from internal conflicts. “Unlike other States in the South Sudan, our State has not witnessed any tribal or cattle raid conflicts,” Uguak said.

Uguak pointed out that the only insecurity alarm in the State is the presence of the Uganda’s radical Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) who appeared to be a threat along the Central Africa Republic border with WBGS and the recent Sudan Armed forces (SAF) Ariel bombardment in Raga County.

In a separate meeting, Uguak met the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) officials to discuss the security situation in the State and how to work together with the State government.

Uguak called on the UNMISS personnel to work closely with the internal State security organs in sharing information that would help in managing and controlling the State security.
