WBGS Minister of Finance, Morris Yel Akol speaking during the press conference in Wau [©Gurtong]Authorities in Western Bahr el Ghazal State (WBGS) have vowed to issue work permits to both foreigners working for NGOs and Investors operating in Wau town within 15 days.

The statement was read in a press conference held last Thursday by the State Minister of Finance Trade and Industry, the acting Minister for Public Services Mr. Morris Yel Akol at the Ministerial Council premises in Wau.

The State authority is streamlining regulations to re-register all foreigners who are working in the State as part of their security and also as a role under the public services norms.

Akol confirmed that the system is not against foreigners but a requirement from the Ministry of Public Labour in conjunction with the National Ministry for Interior Affairs in order to licence the foreign businesses in the State.

The procedures require them to fill in forms designated by the Office of Public Services before issuing the original permits.

“The State authorities will strictly monitor the entrance of the foreign nationals into the State regardless of the legal documents they posses upon arrival,” he said.

The issuance of these permits coincided with the official launch of the South Sudanese national IDs and passports by President Slava Kiir in Juba. President Kiir warned the immigration officials of issuing foreigners with the South Sudanese national Identity documents.
