The Deputy Minister was speaking during the visit of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association to Juba Teaching Hospital to see projects they were sponsoring.

“Malaria is the number one killer disease of our people. We are going to fund an in-door residual spraying of vectors like mosquito. We shall start spraying (mosquitoes) in Juba and other States,” said Dr. Lori

The Chief Executive Officer of Juba Teaching Hospital Mr. Wani Mena, said the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association visited the hospital to see some of the projects they are supporting which include a training school for nurses and mid-wives and maternity unit.

“We advise pregnant women to visit a health centre so that they can be put under antenatal care, in case of problems during delivery, this can be detected early,” he said.

“We have done a lot by providing treated mosquito nets to reduce mosquito bites but this can still occur at the period when people are not sleeping hence further spraying need to be carried out,” Mena explained

The head of delegation, Hon. Mauril Belanger who is also the Co-Chair of the Association said that the South Sudanese Members of parliament need to see that the will of the people is reflected in the national parliament.”
