Leaders of the African National Congress (ANC) have taken it as an serious offence at the Congress of South African Trade Union (Cosatu) terming the implementation of new toll systems as “economic apartheid”.
Cosatu has conducted rounds of marches against the government over the e-tolling and the labor brokers, which has created a fuss in the political system of South Africa with differences springing up within the labor unions themselves as well as amongst the government.
According to secret sources, the President of South Africa Jacob Zuma and other senior party members of ANC are expected to meet up in the evening of Monday to discuss the situation created by Cosatu and what should be the implementations now. The meeting is to be held at an unannounced location with secrecy where selected top six officials will be joining the President for discussion.
The General Secretary of Cosatu Zwelinzima Vavi has become the focal point for the government as of now due to his commenting promoting discrimination amongst the people in economic and social policy of the country. ANC leaders have taken the terms used by Vavi “economic apartheid” very seriously.
At the same time where the government officials are conducting meetings, Cosatu officers have also announced to meet Monday night to discuss how to take the strike further and what should be there demands now.
