The South Sudanese Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Dr Peter Adwok Nyaba told the press in Juba Friday that the action has been triggered by reports of forged academic certificates by a section of civil servants.
The Minister said those found to have forged academic documents “will face the full force of the law”.
He said that a Presidential decree has been passed, tasking his Ministry to scrutinise all documents, including certificates, diplomas, degrees and PHDs of all civil servants to gauge their competence.
“We are collecting all these certificates and examining them. A criterion has already been developed by UNESCO and which we will use to vet the credentials. We will then make decisions based on the outcome of the exercise. The Directorate of Evaluation and Accreditation has already been tasked with the job”, said Dr Nyaba.
