The State Minister of Animal Resources Paul Dhel Gum has given cattle keepers three days to leave the town after residents complained their crops were being destroyed by the animals.

“The order will also help in keeping the town clean and freeing the residential areas cow’s waste”, said Gum.

This will also protect the residents from contracting diseases that can be transferred from the animals to humans. The cattle owners have been directed to establish camps five kilometres from the town to set up their camps.

The Minister added that those who fail to respect the decree will be dealt with in accordance to the law. Keeping of animals within the town remains one of the challenges facing effective urban planning in South Sudan.
