Lotara was speaking during the graduation ceremony of 94 South Sudanese who underwent a four-year training at the South Sudan Older People’s Organization (SSOPO).

“We need to be ready to release our daughters and sons to work in the hotels, even at night because hotel work is a profession. We should leave the old notion that working in the hotels is for children with decayed morals.” Achiro said.

She said that the Ministry of Labour Public and Human Resource Development will write a cover letter to all the hotels in South Sudan requesting them to employ more South Sudanese particularly those who graduates in such recognized institution like SSOPO.

The Director General of Social Welfare in the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare Nathan Wojia said the country requires more practical skills for the development of the nation.

According to the Chairperson of the SSOPO, Marcellina Denya Loteka, the organization has seen 186 graduates since its creation in 2007.

“We were training the graduates in moral behavior, life skills, food processing and tailoring. These graduates are now ready to contribute to the betterment of the hospitality and textile industries.” said Loteka.

The graduates asked for support from the government to ensure that they get employed in the hotel industry as they now have the right skills.
