The appeal mainly meant to address food insecurity of different communities in the nascent state; refugees, displaced people, returnees and other vulnerable groups is an early preparation meant to address the humanitarian situation next year.

“South Sudan is the first country worldwide to finalize its appeal this year, and a global launch will take place in mid-December,” stated a released statement by UNOCHA today.

“The Consolidated Appeal for South Sudan reflects the humanitarian community’s collective commitment to reducing suffering, providing protection, and boosting the resilience of the most vulnerable people of South Sudan,” added the statement.

The statement indicated that, the call came after the 114 non-governmental organizations and UN agencies working in close coordination with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, as well as with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission came together and made the call.

On Wednesday the UN had already released a statement that, influx of Sudanese refugees is expected to double by the end of next year to 350,000 as fight between Sudanese government and rebels in Blue Nile and Southern Kordofan is expected to intensify in the dry season and means more displacement of refugees.
