The Caretaker Minister of Public Service, Mayen Oka Arou has described wrestling as part of the culture among communities which engage the youth and bring them together.

The second wrestler from Anyidi Payam, Mamer Ayor beat Garang Machiek from Angakuei section.

Angakuei drew with Paleek at 3-3.

The wrestling was organized for 15 wrestlers from both sides but because of some inconveniences only eight managed to compete.

The match was organized by Miss. Atong Demach the Miss world Africa to promote youth events and culture in Jonglei state.

Garang Majok , the Director General in the State Ministry of Youth Culture and Heritage urged the youth to cooperate and carryout the peace sensitizing messages to their communities.

“Wrestling is one of the most important events for Bor community which shows championship of greater Bor,” he said.

The new system involves organizing wrestling games among different communities in the state in a move aimed at creating peace and harmony.

Earlier this month, Mayak Ngong Jok the Chairperson of Bor county wrestlers said it is their task to show their championship in wrestling.

“We show our championship through wrestling,” he said.

He said if a wrestler from Bor is a champion in his section, the other champion from the opposing section can request and arrange for a wrestling match with their clan.

Wrestling between different clans brings the community together and creates peace among youths from different ethnic communities.

Atong was crowned the Miss World Africa in August 2012 during the 2012 Miss World Beauty pageant in China.

She managed to go through the stages of the competition and won the fourth position out of 116 contestants.

The young South Sudanese lady rose to fame after winning South Sudan Miss Malaika 2009. She also participated in the Miss Earth 2010 before becoming the current Miss World Africa.

Atong is currently amidst the network of several beauty pageants and celebrities in the world.

She would want to use her position to deliver charity work and especially in the field of education.
