The peace building Manager for Catholic Relief Service (CRS), Mr. Kogo Manase said the football match was a test of trust and sincerity for young people selected from Budi and Kapoeta East Counties to spearhead peace building initiatives.

Kapoeta East’s star player Mr. Lokolong Akal muted Budi team by scoring the first goal of the match in the 9th minute and added a second goal seven minutes later to give 2-0 in the first half.

Kiwel Lokinyom revived Budi team and on scoring a goal in the 16th minute of the second half as Lino Lobata equalized the match during five minutes of extra time.

Following the draw, Peace and Justice Coordinator for the Catholic Diocese of Torit, Fr. John Opi, awarded each team with 1000 South Sudan Pounds.

Fr. Opi ruled out that the money was for the entire group of young people from the respective counties because those who did not enter the pitch equally played the match by moral boosting their team members.

The officials have disclosed that the concluded Peace Building was coded as ‘Peace Ambassadors’ and was comprising of young people ranging between the age of 10 and 24 with exception of representatives of warriors from the cattle camps, chiefs and parents.

Mr. Kogo said the age group is targeted for the peace building initiative such that they grow up as friends from different counties, with positive mental attitudes towards each other.

He added that the initiative also helps young people to seek diverse means of survival and life style to avert the negative practices of cattle raiding as well as road attacks in the two counties.
