Ben Yengi says that armed cattle owners are reported to have moved from Jonglei state into Kajokeji County and have failed to relocate despite orders by the Central Equatoria State Governor.

He said the armed cattle owners’ present insecurity and it is very difficult to control the cattle as they are involved in destroying crops.

“Because it is of no use for the government and the people asking me to help them be involved heavily this year and produce enough food to answer the food security situation if in the end the crops get eaten by these cattle,” Yengi said.

“Then what is the use of me staying as the Commissioner if I encourage people to grow crops and the crops are eaten with cattle from outside,” he added.

Ben said some of the cattle keepers who encroached into the county from Terkeka have pulled out following an order released by Governor Clement Wani Konga.

He said the move intensified after the Terkeka Commissioner visited Kajokeji and spoke to them.

Ben is also calling authorities of Jonglei State to cooperate and do the same.

He said insecurity being created by the encroachment of the cattle keepers and road development poses a big challenge to his county.
