“The State governments must intensify campaigns on agricultural productivity by encouraging our citizens to work hard in order to produce enough food not only for local consumption, but also for commercial purposes,” Bangasi told leaders in a forum held in Juba yesterday.
In a related call, the Speaker of the South Sudan National Assembly Hon. James Wani Igga urged farmers to use ox-plough rather than demanding for tractors which he said are more expensive to maintain in terms of fuel, labour and spare parts.
Several farmers have demanded tractors, saying agricultural mechanization would boost their production and incomes.
Farmers have also decried the road challenges that hinder their transportation and marketing of agricultural inputs and outputs.
