The CSNEES head, Jimmy Killang Silverous, has denounced the on-going attacks on civilians in the volatile Jonglei State.
He has also cited cattle raids and armed robberies as the other leading causes of instability and deaths in the state.
Silverous told the gathering at this year’s International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers held at Torit Freedom Square that there is need to urgently address insecurity in the country.
“There is no time to waste and I appealto ourleaders toaddress the spiralling insecurity as well as respect human rights”, he said.
He underscored the crucial role of the civil society in giving a voice to the voiceless, saying that the civil society puts the government in check.
“Our neutrality enables us to put the government on its toes so that it can serve the citizenry without bias or political interests”, said Silverous.
He at the same time affirmed co-operation with the government in efforts to attain development.
