Kit Bridge, built by the army in 1992 to ease movement has been connecting Lobonok community to Juba and the community chairperson, Hon. Alexander Sule briefly narrated that the Bridge had started to develop breakages last year but finally broke last on Sunday.

Hon. Sule has appealed for government and its partners to intervene as the bridge could not be resolved by the community owing to its structure since the community does not have financial capacity to rebuild it.

He disclosed that for a temporary passage, the community has tried to collect and assemble some stones as a bypass segment awaiting permanent solution being currently sought.

However, Hon. Sule disclosed that the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has proposed US $ 3 million to construct the bridge.

Ms. Kasarah Margret a resident of Kuruki whose origin is Lobonok, told Bakhita Radio that she was in Juba and on her way home found the river full, the Bridge broken and could not cross.

Ms. Margret who sincerely lamented their village has been experiencing hunger because the community has to buy food in Juba but now has been blocked off, appealed to the government to quickly look into the problem as most of the community’s residents treat their sick ones in Juba.

Another Lobonok resident Alfred Pitia who hopes he is waiting for water level to subside; he spent five days at the river bank because it was full and could not be crossed.

Mr. Pitia complained that many times the community raised concerns to the government but until now nothing is done.
