Mayor Nhial Majak Nhial on Thursday said he will issue an order to ban all the numberless vehicles and motorbikes by the end of the week.

“By the end of this week, all the juvenile riders; small boys or girls found ridding motorbikes will be arrested and motorbikes or vehicles will be confiscated and there will be a dear fine for that,” he said.

Majak said any vehicle or motorbike without a plate number will be impounded once the order is issued.

Bor has more Juveniles involved in boda-boda riding and some of them are also involved in committing crimes in the town.

Last year, the directorate of traffic police in collaboration with the police departments collected more than 300 numberless motorcycles in Bor town with a view tracing numberless stolen motorcycles during registration process.

The Police Traffic Officer for Operation Lt. Col. Ezekiel Kiir Deng said they have started tracing vehicles and motorcycles operating without number plats.

Zechariah Panthou Machar, the chairperson of Boda-Boda Association in Jonglei state has accused mechanics of colluding with thieves.

Panthou said they have set a committee which will monitor 28 motorcyclists’ garages within Bor town.

Three days ago, a representative of the boda-boda Hakim Ssemwanga said they report to the police theft of their bikes daily.

“Motorbikes each and every day are being taken, people are being beaten and we are reporting to the police but nothing is being done,” said Ssemwanga.
