Last month, angry pupils of Yirol Boys Primary School went on rampage when a legislator at the National Parliament Hon. David Deng Athorbei was denied speech in a school function as a guest of honour.

The pupils destroyed his office in anger; the school was closed down temporarily and has been reopened according to Majak. The violent protest resulted to the detention of the executive director of the area, students as well as teachers of Yirol Boys Primary School.

Those detained were reportedly tortured and humiliated in a military cell at Babpur-zed. The commissioners blamed the protest on conspiracy against him.

“I was surprised by unsubstantiated news reported by Sudan tribune against my office on 9th Oct, 2013 by colliding me with the governor on baseless ground of having exchanged bitter words which is a total lie.” This article published is full of political conspiracy and incitement. But facts must be separated from opinions,” he said.

“I am indeed surprised by unjustified statement following the incidence between me and MP Athorbei; I have challenged the governor for distancing himself from the matter. Even though, my boss has said it, there is no way I can turn against him in public press or statement. The right way to handle our matters is through administrative procedures, not over the media,” he advised.
