The State Malaria Coordinator in the state Ministry of Health, Mr. Tobias Magistu Mark disclosed this on Thursday at the state capital, Torit.

The coordinator expressed disappointments over the matter, saying on Wednesday,   his team was found doing household listings and marking at Pwata Payam of Kapoeta South County and was threatened at a gunpoint by an armed man in the area after being tipped off by his wife.

The team members had to run into the bush for their lives. Magistu however said the head chief of the area managed to stop the angry man from shooting the surveyors..

After consultations with the Headquarters in Torit, the survey team gathered at the County headquarters and met the County Executive Director after wondering about in the thorny bushes of Kapoeta for two hours.

Magistu said the some individuals from the Pwata Payam of Kapoeta South County did what they did because those who went to survey the area did not include their own natives.

“That it was advertised to the public but the state coordination office did not receive people from the other parts especially from Kapoeta East and Kapoeta North,” said Magistu.

The month long Malaria Indicator Survey launched by National Ministry of Health is aimed at gauging the Malaria prevalence and mass distribution of nets earlier distributed through Marlin.
