Civilians were first hosted at the camp a few kilometers away from the UNMISS compound in Malakal following the outbreak of fights in the state capital town on Friday 24 December 2013.
According to an official, the relocation was due to the insecurity outside the compound in which the camp was not in control from the outsiders and crossfire.
At the camp which, most of the civilians were lacking proper protection and crossfire bullets were able to injure some civilians.
A total of 3 civilians died and about 15 sustained injuries at the first camp located outside the UNMISS compound.
Civilians were protected by the Indian Battalion forces in a circular form of guarding from any attack by the forces during the fight.
The civilians were taken inside the compound in the evening but others remained outside since the population was big.
UNMISS later divided the camps inside the compound in four sections where the civilians are now hosted.
Civilians have appreciated the UNMISS for the relocation adding that the former place was not secure.
However, the relocation of the civilians inside the compound has created more security and random movement has been restricted where people used to come in any time.
Some civilians lauded the move adding that from the outside most people who had been defeated in the war used to come and hide inside the camp which scared civilians.
