The RCMP is coming to revisit the crime scene where a 53-year-old hockey mom, named Julie Paskall, was brutally attacked outside the Newton Arena on Sunday for no good reason. Mounties will now be installing a command post outside the arena, where Paskall stood waiting for her son when she was fatally attacked during a robbery, which is being perceived as random and unprovoked incident. Later on, Paskall died of her injuries.

Well-wishers have set up a memorial outside the arena for the deceased, where all sympathizers are dropping candles and flowers. Many have stopped only to grieve and share their sympathies after Paskall’s death. One of the grievers mentioned at the time of their visit that “I live in the community and it could have been me.” Another sympathizer seemed to be alarmed by the increase in the number of violence and crime in the community. He alleged that “I kind of feel for the police,” because “I mean, they can’t be everywhere and they can’t do everything. They’re doing the best that they can with the resources that they have, and it’s unfortunate that it takes something like this to move a community.”

On the other hand, one of the community members said they’ll try to stay away from the area. It was explained that “there’s people in the park right here [who] do drugs; you can see them doing drugs. They smoke crack, there are needles in the park… nobody does anything about it. They’re all here — they look in our windows while we work out.”
