The contribution comes following the formation of the state Crisis Management Committee (CMC) with the sole objective of mobilizing resources to support the national army fighting the rebel forces within the country.

Speaking while handing over the cows to the state CMC in Wau town on Friday, Jur River County Commissioner John Arop Apai said the contribution is just from two of his payams, saying more are coming.

“Our contribution will go beyond 100 cows as we are still collecting more,” Apai said. “Our communities at the payam levels are committed to offer what is available to support the national army who are fighting the rebels.”

The State Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce who is also a member of the state CMC Charles Wol said they are also contributing what they can to support the CMC.

“The state government is here not only contributing to support the army but also civilians who fled violence in Unity state and have arrived in Wau,” said Livio Bhara, a member of the state CMC.

He said the state government is now joined by Non-Governmental Organization including the IOM and UNICEF in providing shelters, food and medical facilities to the IDPs in the state.
