Narendra ModiNarendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister said that Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister was a good man "spoilt by the rot" in the party. The Chief Minister termed Congress as a burden in the country.

In a public gathering at Vastral Modi said, "When Manmohan Singh became the PM, he was a good person; we did not say anything against him. But, because of being with the Congress, he has got spoilt; and if people like Singh get spoilt by the rot in Congress, then we need to remove that rot."

"Congress party has become a burden for our country. It has rotted, which is now visible in its public image," he added.

Referring to internal disagreements in the Congress, Narendra Modi also said that Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram strongly disagreed. But on the other hand Prime Minister Manmohan Singh just remained a silent observer.

According to Modi it was eight months since the Center appointed committee chaired by him. After the committee Modi submitted a report to the PM in which he recommended measures to control the price rise. But, Modi said, Mr Manmohan was yet to see it.

"During the meeting of Chief Ministers last year, four committees were formed, of which I headed one. My committee submitted the report eight months ago, recommending steps to control price rise. The Prime Minister had then acknowledged our efforts in preparing the report, but he has not bothered even to open the cover of the report," Modi said.

In order to control the food inflation, the report recommended a ban on the future trading in necessary commodities.
