Approximately 500 members of several NGOs participated in a peaceful march of three kilometers to Johor Baharu Selatan police headquarters from Menara Landmark.
“The peaceful march was to hand over a memorandum to the authorities to expedite the investigation into the matter. The people of the state are angry and disappointed with Mohammad Nizar,” said Johor Baharu Umno Youth head Khaled Mohammad.
They contributed in two demonstrations in the protest against Perak PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin for supposedly having questioned the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s successful RM 520, 000 bid for the WWW 1 car registration number.
PAS vice-president who is leading the party’s charge, Salahuddin Ayub, have uttered yesterday that authorities should investigate Nizar’s statements to resolve the case. The Johor police consequently received reports against Mohammad Nizar and have started investigation under the Sedition Act, 1948. The police were investigating Mohammad Nizar for agitation for having allegedly questioned the sultan’s bid implying that the sovereign had used public funds to make the purchase, over Twitter.
In the mean time, over 100 members of the Johor 4B Youth Movement and the Malay right-wing group Perkasa marched from the Johor Tourism Information Centre to Istana Besar for about 100 meters. Home minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein expressed that the participation in march by the people of Johor showed their love for the Sultan.
Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Tunku Mahkota of Johor gave justifications on Tweeter saying that the royal family has not taken any money from the state and Mohammad Nizar has made apologies to the Johor royalty.
