Chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan is successfully recovering from his injuries and is expected to address a gathering in Islamabad via video conferencing. The last PTI rally before May 11 elections will take place at D-Chowk, Islamabad where Khan will address his supporters from hospital room.

Khan is receiving treatment at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital after he fell from a lifter at an election rally in Lahore. His doctors have restricted him from making unnecessary movements. However, Khan shifting to a private room from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is been taken as a positive sign. Dr Faisal Sultan of SKMH confirmed that Khan does not have a skull fracture and should be able to fully recover.

According to the CT scan report, “No intra-axial hemorrhage, hydrocephalus or midline shift was found. No skull fracture was seen either. However, small scalp haematoma (collection of blood) was seen in the left frontal/parietal eminence and un-displaced spinous process fracture of T1 was noted. Minimally displaced fracture of the tip of C3 spinous process is also noted.”

The core committee of PTI including Javed Hashmi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Shirin Mazari are also expected to address the gathering in Islamabad. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the party’s leaders met Khan on Wednesday morning and felt relieved when “we were received by him with a broad smile on his face”.
