First US drone strike after May 11 general elections allegedly killed seven people and injured four at Chashma village (3km east of Miranshah). Following the tradition, foreign ministry officials of Pakistan have condemned the act and termed it as violation of international law.

“Any drone strike is against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan and we condemn it,” the official, who declined to be identified, told Reuters.

“Tribesmen started rescue work an hour after the attack and recovered seven bodies. The bodies were badly damaged and beyond recognition,” said resident Bashir Dawar.

US President Barack Obama has recently announced to take serious measures to increase the precisions of unmanned missiles. However, he did not indicate that the US would reconsider the affectivity of drone strike program. Pakistan’s prospectus Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reiterated that drone strikes are a challenge to the sovereignty of Pakistan.

On the other hand, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has shown satisfaction over Obama’s acknowledgement that force in not the only solution to the prevailing terrorism around the globe.

“On the use of drone strikes, the government of Pakistan has consistently maintained that (they) are counter-productive, entail loss of innocent civilian lives, have human rights and humanitarian implications and violate the principles of national sovereignty, territorial integrity and international law,” the statement read.
