The Minister for Railways, Khwaja Saad Rafique this Monday noted that the governments holding talks with the Tehreek-e-Taliban was not an easy task and further pledged that their government would never let Pakistan’s flag fall down. “There will be many hurdles in the way but we will have to exercise patience,” he cautioned while talking to the media reporters at an inaugural ceremony of a bank in Cavalry Ground Lahore.

He further added that all the government’s efforts will be made to bring the situation of Balochistan under control and that ‘flawed policies of the past’ have turned many tribal areas into the strongholds of the outlaws. Saad Rafique said grievances of the Baloch leader Akhtar Mengal must be lent a keen ear. He said the government intended to work together with the new elected government of Afghanistan. The Pakistan government, he informed, was also keeping a close eye on Indian elections. “Let’s see what kind of government the secular people of India elect for themselves,” he added. On a question relating to the former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, he said, “The matter has already been discussed a lot. It is not the most pressing issue for Pakistan.”

Referring to the inauguration of the bank he said that the banking sector’s development could play an important role for the mainstream of the Pakistani economy. He further emphasized the need for peace to make the Pakistani economy stand again on its feet.
